APSCUF and PASSHE negotiators met today, October 22, at the Dixon Center in Harrisburg.  The Chancellor’s representatives presented data they believed would support their proposals; however APSCUF negotiators pointed out flaws in their presentation including a failure, in several instances, to identify the cost of their proposals to faculty members.  At the conclusion of the meeting APSCUF formally rejected the Chancellor’s proposals to dramatically cut temporary faculty pay, reduce active and retiree health care coverage, and eliminate distance education compensation.  APSCUF presented a counterproposal that would save the System hundreds of thousands of dollars in health care costs.  Despite the lack of progress, APSCUF negotiators have vowed to continue to try to negotiate with the Chancellor’s representatives to reach a fair agreement.  Negotiations are scheduled to continue November 2nd at the Dixon Center.
