Mahfuzul Khondaker, candidate for officer at large
Campaign statement and biography
Dear Colleagues,
I am hoping to get your support to serve on state EC as an Officer-at-Large.
I have experience serving on the state Executive Committee as an Officer-at-Large from 2021 to 2023. I could not continue serving in that capacity once Dr. Tom Stewart was elected and became the state treasurer as by-laws would not allow two members from the same campus serving on the Exec committee.
I am a professor of criminal justice at Kutztown University. I joined KU in 2006 and have been an active member of APSCUF since day one. I am a proud graduate of IUP earning my MA in 2001 and Ph.D. in 2004. I was mentored by the APSCUF faculty who guided and shaped me to be where I am now. I served as the chair of my department for 5 years and chair of the Business Administration department for 1 year. I also served as the founding director of KU First Year Experience program. I am a long-serving delegate of KU, and served my local chapter in many different capacities including the chair of University Promotion Committee and a member of M&D. Currently, I am serving as a member of the KU Presidential Search committee as our union representative. I am also a member of State M&D even though my contribution is limited due to my religious obligations on Fridays when the meetings take place.
I am a fighter, and I always listen to my colleagues and advocate/fight on their behalf. I firmly believe that we need to continue our work and fight hard to provide the best education to our students and keep our universities affordable for them, to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and to ensure reasonable compensation and health benefits for our faculty and coaches.
I am always fair and impartial in my decision-making process. I highly value our very talented, dedicated, and hardworking staff members of state APSCUF and Office Managers of local chapters. If elected, I will work hard to retain them and recruit the best people when needed.
It will be a privilege to serve as an Officer-at-Large with your support and continue fighting for our rights and dignity. I thank you very much for your consideration.
