Following the July 1 start date for Pennsylvania Western University and Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties has released the following statement from its president, Dr. Kenneth M. Mash:
“As PennWest and Commonwealth University launch, the faculty and coaches are dedicated to providing a high-quality education for their students. We know that there is still more to be done to ensure that students succeed, have reasonable choices for classes and programs, and have a clear path to graduation. Where necessary, we will voice our concerns — as we have — and we are committed to working with the universities to resolve them. The faculty and coaches on the various task forces continue to do their full-time jobs while working on consolidation, and they ought to be acknowledged for all they have done and what they will continue to do for their students and the universities.”
APSCUF represents about 5,000 faculty and coaches at the State System campuses: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester.
