Delegates at APSCUF’s February legislative assembly unanimously passed a resolution in solidarity with Commonwealth University faculty and coaches who declared their lack of confidence in university President Bashar Hanna’s leadership.
Representatives from all 14 chapters of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties meet for business during three regularly scheduled legislative assemblies each year. Delegates passed the resolution at this month’s assembly in anticipation of the no-confidence vote held Feb. 11–12. That vote, which polled member and nonmember faculty and coaches at the Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield campuses, resulted in 88.65% of voters saying they do not have confidence in Hanna’s leadership.

“Faculty and coaches at Commonwealth University have spoken together, and our colleagues across our state-owned universities stand with them,” APSCUF President Dr. Kenneth M. Mash said. “Our faculty and coaches understand that the impact of the council of trustees’ and Board of Governors’ decisions transcends Commonwealth University. This is about respect, holding leaders accountable, and truly making decisions that are in the best interest of our students and our collective confidence in our System leadership. We collectively urge the council of trustees and the State System to do the right thing.”
APSCUF represents about 5,000 faculty and coaches at the State System campuses: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester.
