APSCUF’s 216th legislative assembly met April 14–15 in the Harrisburg area. Delegates and officers discussed ongoing issues of contract negotiations, consolidation, retrenchment, and funding for our State System universities. APSCUF honored Dr. Marc Sylvester of PennWest Edinboro with its Distinguished Service Award during Friday’s legislative assembly dinner. APSCUF also named Sen. Lindsey Williams its Distinguished Friend of Public Higher Education. APSCUF members this week gathered in Harrisburg to advocate for increased funding for our State System universities. The effort began with a legislative reception Monday night for members to discuss the importance of higher education with Pennsylvania legislators. Also Tuesday, APSCUF President Dr. Kenneth M. Mash testified before the House Labor and Industry Committee on House Bill 950, speaking about the importance of the right to organize.
