Coach contract negotiations took place today between the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) and Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The negotiation teams discussed the evaluation process, funding professional-development activities for coaches, and expanded tuition waivers.

“It was good to get the process started,” APSCUF Coach Executive Leader John Gump said. “APSCUF coaches have been responsible for a growth in enrollment for student-athletes in a time when the System overall has suffered a significant decline. Coaches have always provided a valuable service to the System and its students. That value has only grown over the past several years. We’re hopeful the System will recognize that as we move forward in these negotiations.”

The teams are slated to meet again May 2. The current four-year contract expires June 30, 2023.

APSCUF represents about 5,000 faculty and coaches at the State System campuses: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester.
