Negotiations between the union representing coaches at Pennsylvania’s state-owned universities and Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education continued Monday, Oct. 28, at the APSCUF office in Harrisburg.

The teams discussed proposals. They did not release details about the talks.

“We had a productive session, reaching agreement on several items,” said John Gump, coach executive leader of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties. “But there are still some significant, substantive issues still to be worked out.”

Monday’s meeting was the seventh bargaining session for the next coaches’ contract. Additional sessions are scheduled for Nov. 18 at Dixon University Center in Harrisburg, Dec. 5 at APSCUF, and Dec. 11 at the Dixon Center.

The coaches’ contract expired June 30; by law, that collective bargaining agreement remains in effect until a new one is ratified.

APSCUF represents about 5,500 faculty and coaches at the State System universities: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania.
