Following Gov. Josh Shapiro’s budget address, Dr. Kenneth M. Mash, president of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, has released the following statement:
“Once again, Gov. Shapiro has demonstrated leadership and vision by recommending an increase to the State System of Higher Education. His commitment to Pennsylvania’s students and families is clear: He wants our universities to fulfill their mission of providing high-quality, affordable education. Our universities are the engines that have propelled thousands upon thousands into the middle class and beyond. We are grateful to Gov. Shapiro, just as we are to both houses of the General Assembly for their past and ongoing support. That support has allowed our universities to not raise tuition for a record seven years.
“We look forward to doing whatever we can to make sure this proposal is included in the state budget.”
APSCUF represents about 5,000 faculty and coaches at the State System campuses: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester.
